Precision Machining Capabilities

BMW Precision Machining provides precision CNC machining for aerospace and defense applications, supporting projects from prototype development through repeat production. Additionally, our AS9100D and ISO 9001 certified, ITAR-registered facility in Oceanside, California combines advanced manufacturing technology with disciplined quality controls, inspection, and traceability.

Furthermore, our capabilities include 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling, Swiss-type CNC turning, and multi-axis mill-turn machining. Consequently, this allows us to efficiently produce complex, close-tolerance components while minimizing setups where practical. Depending on part geometry, material, and feature requirements, our equipment is capable of machining tolerances as tight as .0002″.

Certified Quality Assurance & Inspection

Product conformity is supported by our in-house Quality Assurance team using advanced inspection equipment. For example, this includes Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), optical measurement systems, profile projectors, surface plates, and calibrated precision measuring instruments. Moreover, applicable measurement standards used for calibration are traceable to NIST.

From one-off prototypes to ongoing production requirements, our team works closely with customers from RFQ and contract review through manufacturing, inspection, documentation, and final delivery. As a result, we guarantee reliable components for high-consequence applications.

BMW Precision Machining maintains an AS9100D and ISO 9001 certified Quality
Management System and is registered with the U.S. Department of State Directorate of
Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) under ITAR. These credentials support our ability to meet
applicable aerospace and defense customer, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Yes. BMW Precision Machining is registered with the U.S. Department of State Directorate
of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC). We maintain processes to support applicable ITAR-
controlled manufacturing requirements for eligible aerospace and defense programs.

Our CNC machining, programming, inspection, deburring, and many secondary operations
are performed at our facility in Oceanside, California. When customer requirements call for
specialized outside processes, such as plating, anodizing, heat treatment, or other special
processes, we coordinate with qualified and customer-approved suppliers as applicable.

Our capabilities include 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling, Swiss-type CNC turning, and
multi-axis mill-turn machining. This equipment allows us to manufacture complex geometries
and close-tolerance features while reducing setups where appropriate. Depending on the
application, our machining capabilities can support tolerances as tight as .0002″.

Our programming team utilizes Mastercam for CNC programming and toolpath
development, CIMCO Edit for CNC program editing, back plotting, and verification, and ESPRIT
for advanced mill-turn and synchronized multi-axis applications.

Our Quality Assurance team utilizes CMMs, optical measurement systems, profile projectors,
surface plates, and calibrated precision measuring instruments to verify product conformity.
Inspection requirements are determined by customer specifications, drawings, applicable quality
requirements, and BMW’s documented quality processes.

Yes. We support manufacturing requirements ranging from one-off prototypes and
development quantities to repeat production runs. Our equipment and processes provide the
flexibility to support different production volumes while maintaining applicable quality and
traceability requirements.

We target a 3-5 day quote turnaround for most standard RFQs after receiving the
drawings, specifications, quantities, and applicable requirements. More complex RFQs involving
special processes, material sourcing, regulatory requirements, or extensive technical review
may require additional time.
